Suspected gunmen killed lawyer in Anambra

A tragedy struck the Orsumogu community in the Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State as a lawyer, Barrister Jude Oguejiofor, was allegedly killed by persons suspected to be gunmen operatives.

The Nigerian Tribune reported that Oguejiofor was abducted by gunmen alongside his younger brother, who is a medical doctor.

While his brother was later released by the gunmen, Oguejiofor was killed, according to the report.

Oguejiofor was the principal partner at Jude Oguejiofor & Co., a Nnewi-based law firm. He attended Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University between 2004 and 2008.

He later proceeded to the Abuja Campus of the Nigerian Law School for his vocational training.

He has the traditional title of “Ositadinma Orsumoghu,” an area with a high incidence of kidnapping.

“Sources claimed that the legal practitioner was abducted when he went home to visit his aged parents in the company of his brother who is a medical doctor.

“The gunmen later released his brother and kept him on the allegation that he had been writing petitions to the Anambra State government about their activities.

They, however, promised that he would be released as soon as they completed their investigations.

“They later contacted the family and told them to forget about the legal practitioner and that he had been killed,” a source who pleaded for anonymity said.

He said that things became really bad for the Oguejiofor family on Sunday as he was told that Barr Jude Ogojiofor’s father collapsed and died immediately after the news got to him.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, when contacted via WhatsApp message, said,

“There is no report like that before me.
