Take ownership of government projects in your community – Ekundayo, Ekiti OTSD DG admonishes Omisanjana residents

The Ekiti State Government has admonished the people of the state to take ownership of public projects in their communities by ensuring they are properly maintained and protected at all times.

The Special Adviser and Director General, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), John Ekundayo, gave the advice during an inspection visit to the newly constructed Omisanjana-Sije-Ajebamidele road in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The Special Adviser, accompanied by engineers from the State Ministry of Works, emphasized the need for residents to cultivate the habit of regular clearing and cleaning of the line drains to ensure the durability of the road project.

While analyzing the benefits of the 9.2-kilometer project and the adjoining Solar Powered Street Lighting System to the people of the benefiting communities, Ekundayo stressed that the project will promote economic activities, ease movement of people and materials, reduce expenses on vehicle maintenance, bring down the crime rate, and checkmate motorcycle accidents on the road.

Ekundayo called on the Ministry of Environment to ensure regular inspection and monitoring of the drainage and road sides to avoid unnecessary dropping of refuse that may block the waterways and take urgent steps towards the immediate dredging of the Omisanjana stream to ensure free flow of water before the forthcoming rainy season.

While commending Governor Biodun Oyebanji for breaking the jinx on the construction of the road project after several attempts by previous governments, the OTSD boss cautioned road users and motorists plying the road against over-speeding to avoid motor accidents.
