Trinity University Lagos has matriculated 380 students across its three faculties and 16 fully accredited courses for the 20232024 academic session.
The ceremony took place last week with the former managing director of Wema Bank Plc, Mr Ademola Adebise, delivering a lecture.
Speaking at the event, the vice chancellor of the university, Professor Clement Kolawole, encouraged the students to give due attention to their studies and other legitimate activities and also be of good behaviour even beyond school environment.
He said they should count themselves lucky for not only gaining admission out of the huge number of applicants nationwide but also for almost completing one year out of their course duration.
He said they made a good decision to further their education at Trinity University, declaring that the institution is ready to impact the right knowledge and skills in them.
He said as young adults they would enjoy freedom but with restraints as there are rules and regulations to guide their conduct as members of Trinity University community.
According to him, any student who contravenes rules and regulations of the university will be sanctioned accordingly.
“So, you are not expected to indulge in exam malpractice, drug abuse, fighting, and immorality,” he stated, referring to two Biblical verses, Prov 1:10 and Gen. 39:9 to guide them.
He noted that two sets had already graduated from the university within six years of commencement of its academic activities.
Speaking in the same vein, the pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of the institution, Samuel Olatunji, congratulated the students and their parents and urged the students to set goals for themselves and pursue those goals to accomplishment.
He said the road to the top in life is always rough and requires great sacrifice and efforts to climb and that the students should therefore patiently run the race with a fear of God to win the crown.
Delivering a lecture on the topic, ‘Empowered living: Unlocking your potentials,’ the guest speaker and former managing director of Wema Bank Plc, Mr Ademola Adebise, urged the students to be guided by three principles, namely: self-awareness, self-development and resilience.
He said those three virtues would greatly help them to surmount challenges as they may surface on their ways to success in academic and other legitimate pursuits.
