VIDEO: Lagos govt discovers illegal styrofoam warehouse at Ojuwoye market

In a startling discovery, the Lagos State government’s environmental authorities have uncovered an illegal styrofoam warehouse at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin, Lagos.

Early this morning, operatives from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) acted on intelligence that led them to the illicit stockpile.

Mr Tokunbo Wahab, the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, confirmed the raid in a social media post.

According to Wahab, the warehouse owner had surreptitiously brought in banned styrofoam products under the cover of darkness.

“Based on intelligence gathering, the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) discovered a styrofoam warehouse at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin.

“The owner brought in the banned styrofoam to market in the early hours of today,” the Commissioner stated.

Upon confiscation, the styrofoam products were swiftly transported to the KAI office in Oshodi for incineration, ensuring they pose no further environmental threat.

“The Lagos state government is reiterating its commitment to ensuring a healthy, cleaner, and safer environment for all Lagosians,” Wahab added.

Styrofoam, known for its harmful environmental impact due to its non-biodegradability, has been banned in Lagos State as part of efforts to curb environmental pollution.
