Lagos State Government said it has through the State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) disbursed N10 billion to entrepreneurs in the state to assist them in their businesses thereby creating jobs for Lagosians.
The Acting Executive Secretary of the agency, Feyisayo Alayande, made this known at a press conference which took place Monday at Alausa, Ikeja ahead of the forthcoming Lagos State Employment Trust Summit 3.0 holding on July 3rd, 2024 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island.
Alayande further disclosed that 86 per cent of the N10 billion disbursed to various entrepreneurs had been paid back, saying that a total of 500,000 businesses had been supported and 220,000 trained for entrepreneurship programmes.
According to her, the forthcoming summit is to show what the state has been doing to create jobs for Lagosians and collaborate with private sectors in bridging the employment gap, saying that different speakers had been selected to speak at the event.

This was just as she maintained that LSETF had been partnering with stakeholders to find solutions to job scarcity in the state.
Alayande noted that the agency also set up a business support initiative where free legal support and business orientation were given to entrepreneurs, disclosing that the LSETF would soon launch the Labour Management Information System where Lagosians can get information on latest jobs in the market.
The Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said the administration was proud of what the LSETF had done in creating job opportunities for Lagosians which had advanced the vision of Mr. Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
He said the success of LSETF reflected the THEMES + agenda of Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
Ruby Igwe of ALX Africa, one of the partners in this year’s summit, expressed the organisation’s delight to partner with LSETF to provide “dignified jobs and training for Nigerians.”
