Why full autonomy is ‘not good’ for LGAs — Kwara govt

The Kwara State Government has asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the suit filed by the Federal Government seeking full autonomy for the 774 Local Government (LG) Councils in the country, explaining that such “will further impoverish most Nigerians who are downtrodden in the local government areas.”The AG, therefore urged the apex court to hold that the federal government has no constitutional power to stop, redirect or withhold the statutory allocations meant for the local government councils in Kwara.
