You’re a failed, insignificant politician, PDP blasts Kwankwaso

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday strongly rebuked former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, branding him as a failed and insignificant politician.

Kwankwaso, who was the 2023 presidential candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), recently criticized the PDP, claiming it is no longer relevant.

Speaking during the inauguration of a newly renovated party office in Katsina State on Saturday, Kwankwaso asserted that his departure from the PDP was a sign of the party’s demise.

“I wish to remind you that PDP is dead because we left the party. Since they have gone out of the line, we decided to check out,” he said.

In a statement issued on Sunday, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, condemned Kwankwaso’s remarks, labelling him as irrelevant in the current Nigerian political landscape.

Ologunagba criticized Kwankwaso for his perceived selfishness and lack of leadership qualities.

The statement read: “Our reaction to the statement credited to Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso is that he is very inconsequential in Nigerian national politics today. He is struggling to lead a party called NNPP, which is also struggling to control only one state.”

It continued, “It is unfathomable to imagine that a failed and inconsequential politician with only one state would claim that a party that has 13 governors, many Senators, many members of the House of Representatives, several State Assemblies, and a strong presence in all local government areas and wards across the country is dead.”

The PDP further accused Kwankwaso of being insensitive, pointing out that all his achievements were gained through the PDP platform.

The statement also highlighted the ongoing economic hardships faced by Nigerians, criticizing Kwankwaso for focusing on his personal ambitions instead of addressing national issues.

“It is unfortunate that at this time when the PDP and patriotic Nigerians are speaking out against the severe hardship caused by the APC administration’s policies, including a drastic increase in petrol prices and a plummeting Naira, Senator Kwankwaso’s focus remains on his personal aspirations rather than the pressing issues facing the nation,” the statement concluded.

The PDP stressed that any political relevance Kwankwaso may have had was achieved during his time with the party.
