AIG charges Police officers against corrupt practices on duty

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 10 Headquarters, Sokoto, AIG Lawal Abubakar Daura, has charged officers and men of Kebbi State command to shun any forms of corruption in the discharge of their constitutional duties.

The AIG made this statement on Thursday when he led his management team to visit the Kebbi State Command for a one-day familiarization visit.

A statement signed by ASP Uthman Yawub Mohammed and made available to newsmen on Saturday morning mentioned that during his lecture to the officers and men of the command, the AIG charged them to discharge their duties diligently with a view to curtailing kidnapping and other related security challenges, ensuring that socio-economic activities thrive in the state.

He equally advised them to solicit the support and cooperation of the members of the public in line with the community policing policy of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

In the same vein, AIG Lawal Abubakar Daura emphasized, “he also called on Officers of the Command to ensure discreet investigation of their cases to secure conviction in court as well as shun all forms of corrupt practices in dealing with members of the public.”

In his welcome address, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Chris Aimionowane, briefed the visiting AIG on the proactive measures adopted by the Command in ensuring security in the state, as well as the tremendous successes recorded by the Command after the assumption of duty as the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command.

AIG Lawal Abubakar Daura also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, where he solicited his continued support and cooperation for the Police to discharge their duty of protecting the lives and property of the good people of Kebbi State optimally.
