APC Denies Intentions of One-Party State in Nigeria

Senator Ajibola Bashiru assured that the APC doesn’t seek to turn Nigeria into a one-party state but to strengthen itself
Bashiru emphasized the APC’s commitment to improving education and infrastructure to enhance its electoral prospects across Nigeria

Senator Ajibola Bashiru, the National Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), assured the public that the party’s leaders have no intentions of transforming Nigeria into a one-party state. Instead, they are focused on strengthening the party to consistently win elections across the country.
Addressing a gathering of supporters at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Monday, Bashiru emphasized the APC’s commitment to ensuring adequate resources for improving education and infrastructure, bolstering its electoral prospects.
“We are not advocating for Nigeria to become a one-party state. Our goal is to build a formidable party capable of consistently securing victories in elections,” Bashiru declared.
He reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for President Tinubu’s “renewed hope” agenda and expressed unity under the leadership of the national chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Responding to recent challenges, including purported suspensions and calls for his resignation, Ganduje addressed the supporters, highlighting the fear among some individuals regarding the APC’s progress.
“They are apprehensive because of our consolidation efforts and the influx of new members into our party nationwide,” Ganduje remarked.
Referring to future elections, Ganduje asserted that the party’s leadership remains steadfast, with President Tinubu poised to lead the nation in the coming years.

Despite protests and attempts to discredit the party, Ganduje urged APC supporters to disregard such tactics, labelling them as political theatrics to undermine their achievements.
“We understand their tactics. It’s merely political theatrics aimed at discrediting the efforts of accomplished politicians. We will not allow them to succeed in their endeavours,” Ganduje affirmed.
