Army releases Delta monarch arrested over soldiers killings


The traditional ruler was earlier declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters DHQ) alongside seven others for their alleged involvement in the killing of the soldiers in Okuama community

The Nigerian Army has released the traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom, HRH Clement Ikolo, who was taken into custody after turning himself in, over the gruesome murder of 17 soldiers in his kingdom in Delta State on March 14, 2024.
The traditional ruler was earlier declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters DHQ) alongside seven others for their alleged involvement in the killing of the soldiers in Okuama community of Ughelli South LGA of the State while on peace mission.
The monarch was released to the Senator representing the Delta North, Senator Ede Dafianone, who stood for him as a surety.
He was released during a briefing at the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Friday, addressed by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu.
