Foreign Military Bases Will Weaken Nigeria’s Defence – PRP

Foreign military bases may divert Nigeria’s attention away from addressing domestic security challenges

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has warned Nigeria’s government that allowing the United States of America (USA) and France to relocate military bases from neighbouring African countries to Nigeria will undermine the country’s defence capabilities.
According to Comrade Muhammed Ishaq, the party’s Ag. National Publicity Secretary, foreign military bases may divert Nigeria’s attention away from addressing domestic security challenges and towards the strategic interests of the base-owning countries.
“This might result in neglecting Nigeria’s internal security needs and weakening its defense capabilities,” he stressed.
“The PRP joins other Nigerian patriots who have alerted President Bola Tinubu and members of the National Assembly on the dangers of the ongoing attempts by the USA and some European countries to relocate their military bases in the Sahel, where they have been kicked out by host nations, to Nigeria.
“As a party firmly committed to the sovereignty, security and well-being of our nation, we feel it is our responsibility to voice our concerns and caution the Nigerian government against entering into any pacts that may endorse such arrangements.

The statement highlighted that the relocation of these foreign military bases to Nigeria poses a number of potential dangers that could adversely affect the country’s security, sovereignty, and overall well-being.
“We, as a party founded on the principles of “Total Liberation from Imperialism,” feel compelled to highlight these risks and strongly call on the Nigerian government to reject such proposals outrightly for our national interest,” Ishaq added.
