Governor Lawal urges completion of Zamfara dam projects

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has called on the Federal Government to expedite the completion and utilization of the ongoing dam projects in the state.

Lawal made this call during his visit to the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsav, in Abuja, stating the significance of the projects in providing a sustainable water source for the state’s burgeoning population.

According to a statement on Wednesday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the meeting addressed essential matters related to water projects in Zamfara, pointing out their potential to enhance agricultural productivity and foster overall economic growth.

“The Governor emphasized the need for the Federal Government to allocate adequate funding to complete these projects, given their critical role in addressing the state’s water scarcity and promoting socio-economic development.

“Furthermore, Governor Lawal appealed for the completion and utilization of the dam projects in the state to scale up irrigation farming, ”Idris stated.

Idris also said that the minister assured Governor Lawal of sending a team of specialists to Zamfara to evaluate the water conditions and recommend necessary actions comprehensively.
