KolaDaisi University gets new bursar

The Governing Council of KolaDaisi University (KDU), Ibadan has approved the appointment of a new bursar, Dr Michael A. Alatise, who takes over from Mr Yinka Babatunde.

In a statement by the registrar of the university and secretary to the Council, Mr Haruna Olawale Adetu, and made available to Nigerian Tribune by the Principal Public Relations Officer of the university, Margaret Innocent, the appointment which is for a term of four years is with immediate effect.

Born in December 1963, Dr Alatise is an old student of Renascent High School, Ibadan. He obtained OND in Accountancy in 1987 and HND in Accountancy in 1990 from The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1999. He has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ibadan in 2003, B.Sc. Accounting from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye in 2010, M. Sc. and Ph. D degrees in Accounting from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State. (2015 and 2018 respectively.)

Alatise was a multiple Prize winner between 1979 and 1984 as the best student at Renascent High School, Aremo, Ibadan. He received Chief M.K.O. Abiola Postgraduate Prize Award and Oba Ogunmokun Biladu III Memorial Prize Award as the best MBA student of the University of Ibadan in 2003.

He is a skilled and experienced professional whose experience cuts across the banking industry, public and private sectors, professional practice and training.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. He was appointed the Bursar of the University of Ibadan on 18th November 2015 and completed his tenure on 19th November 2020.

He had a one-year sabbatical leave at the Bursary Department of the College of Education (Special), Oyo. He returned to the University of Ibadan as Director of Budgeting and Financial Planning, the position he held until he was appointed the Bursar of KolaDaisi University on 1st April, 2024.

Dr Alatise had teaching experience as a Part-Time Lecturer at the Polytechnic, Ibadan in the Department of Accountancy from 2008 to 2012 and as an Associate Lecturer in Accounting at the University of Ibadan from 2011 to 2023.

His areas of research are in Financial Markets operations, Public Sector Accounting, and Finance. He has attended and presented scholarly papers at numerous training sessions and workshops. He has also been a remarkable contributor to learned journals and conference proceedings.

He is a member of Oluyole Social Elites, Ibadan, and of Ibadan District Society of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

Dr Alatise is happily married to Funmi and the union is blessed with God-fearing children.
