Lagos alleges tower firm ‘improperly-installed’ cables

The Lagos State Government has said that a leading tower company was responsible for a case of alleged improperly-installed cables in the state.

IHS, a telecoms company, initially provided site build services for mobile network operators in Nigeria but has since developed expertise in all aspects of telecom towers, managing over 16,700 sites across Nigeria. Its head office, where the alleged unauthorised cables were identified, is located in Lagos, with stations in Abuja, Ibadan, Enugu, Asaba, Kano, and Port Harcourt as well.

LASIMRA said it carried out the enforcement actions to inspect cables in the area under its powers to regulate utility infrastructure within the geographical boundary of Lagos and ensure the safety and health of the citizens.

“This update,” LASIMRA said, “underscores our dedication to upholding telecommunications regulations and ensuring public safety. For any inquiries or additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your cooperation.”
