Tourism: Lagos govt, NBC target over N5bn investments from trade fair

Lagos State government, in collaboration with Naija Brand Chick (NBC), has concluded plans to host a three-day Trade Fair in tourism and hospitality in the state targeted to bring in N5 billion investments.

Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe, made this known on Thursday during a joint press briefing with NBC, which took place at the Press Center, Alausa, Ikeja, to give the highlights on the three-day event scheduled to take place between June 14 and 16, 2024.

Aregbe, while unveiling the event, described the collaboration as a landmark that marks a significant departure from traditional governance approaches, saying that the alliance between the state government and NBC was not just about cooperation, but about amplification and “taking the Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair to unprecedented heights, where it serves as a pivotal catalyst for our entrepreneurial community.”

He assured that the scheduled Trade Fair, holding from 14th to 16th of June 2024 would witness the historic event that marks the beginning of a new era in hospitality and trade fair, declaring that the ambitious goal of N5billion in sales speaks volumes about the commitment to driving economic growth and prosperity of Lagos State.

“With great pride and excitement, we announce a landmark collaboration that marks a significant departure from traditional governance approaches.

“It is my honour to unveil our value-driven partnership with Naija Brand Chick (NBC).

“This alliance is not just about cooperation; it’s about amplification. It’s about taking the Lagos Tourism NBC Trade Fair to unprecedented heights, where it serves as a pivotal catalyst for our entrepreneurial community.

“The 14th – 16th of June 2024 will witness the historic event that marks the beginning of a new era in hospitality and trade fair.

“Under the visionary leadership of Mr Governor Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu, and with the steadfast support of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, we aim for nothing short of excellence.

“Our ambitious goal of N5 billion in sales speaks volumes about our commitment to driving economic growth and prosperity,” he stated.

According to him, this year’s Trade Fair will be a convergence of diverse sectors, spanning Lifestyle and Home, Fashion and Personal Care, Services and Innovation, Arts and Craft, Adventure and Recreation, Travel and Hospitality, and Cultural and Recreational Attractions, saying that it was a testament to the state’s unwavering dedication to inclusivity and diversity.

“With an anticipated influx of participants and visitors, the fair will provide an unparalleled platform for vendors and entrepreneurs to showcase their offerings, connect with a wider audience, and contribute to the vibrant economic landscape of Lagos.

“The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture stands firm in its mission to nurture our rich cultural heritage, promote artistic endeavours, and propel the tourism sector forward as a cornerstone of economic development.

“Together, let’s embark on this transformative journey towards a brighter, more prosperous future for Lagos State,” Aregbe said.

NBC Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mrs. Nelly Agbogun, in her brief speech, described the forthcoming Trade Fair as “unprecedented,” saying that it would bring a lot of investment opportunities to Lagos in particular and Nigeria in general.

“The trade fare of will be unprecedented. We are excited about this programme. It will bring a lot of investment opportunities to Lagos in particular and Nigeria in general,” Agbogun said.
