Anambra commissioner of police, CP Aderemi Adeoye retires after 35 years

On Saturday, Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, marked the end of his 35-year policing career and 10 months of leading the state command with a ceremonial pull-out parade at Ekwueme Square, Awka.
Adeoye, who was appointed by the Police Service Commission on June 30, 2023, succeeding Echeng Echeng, who was promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police and redeployed to Zone 9, Umuahia, reflected on his extensive service, highlighting his varied experiences and achievements under multiple police commissioners.
He attributed his success in tackling Anambra’s security challenges, significantly reducing them, to his thorough preparation for the role. State Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, representing Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, praised the retiring CP for his dedication to improving security in the state.
He said, “There is usually a time to begin something and there is also a time to end it. The CP has done very well in Anambra. If we could retain him, we would have done so.”
